Welcome to a special edition of Weather Willy Thursday, Super Bowl Edition, from Willy's network post at your favorite Indianapolis coffee shop. Find out what days will be sunny and which will be cloudy leading up to The Big Game. Weather Willy speaks of sunny days ahead, just perfect for enjoying the Broad Ripple cafe's two new drinks, the dark chocolate mocha with cinnamon, and a white chocolate mocha with strawberry flavor. Come tantalize your tastebuds with a sip or two.

This month your favorite Indiana coffee shop is  featuring international artwork from the Village Experience. These gorgeous, colorful pictures tell the stories of whirlwind international travel, exposing foreign lifestyles tragic and terrific.

The Village Experience is a socially pro-active business dedicated to uplifting impoverished communities in the developing world through efforts in international trade and tourism. Proceeds are used to support the mission of The Village Cooperative. The Village Cooperative is a charitable organization dedicated to the creation and support of income-generating projects in the developing world.

Village Experience co-founder Kelly Campbell provided descriptions of each of the photos you see on the right:

"The photos on display come from our humanitarian trips around the world. Here are a few stories:

"The picture of the hand is from the Palestinian side of the security barrier or "wall" separating the West Bank from Israel. Since Palestinians are forced to look at this enormous concrete structure everyday, artists have begun to create peaceful works of art on the wall. This one example shows five major religions as all being one in the same.

"The picture of the Masai Tribe from Kenya was taken during a "jumping ceremony" - the man who jumps the highest gets the honor of choosing his own bride from the tribe. Marriages for the other men will be arranged by tribal elders.

"The picture of the little girl standing in front of the blue door was taken in Nakuru, Kenya at The Child Discovery Center. Her name is Yasmine and she is 9 years old. She is an orphan and her education is currently being provided by The Village Cooperative. We get to see Yasmine about twice a year and she is doing really well!

"The picture of the Buddha is from a temple in Bangkok, Thailand. The numerous buddhas throughout Thailand show the great dedication of the Thai people to their religion, culture, and heritage. We explore the religious diversity of Thailand when we take groups to explore the country.

"The picture of the line of children enjoying their lunch is from the DaySpring School in Mbita, Kenya. The Village Cooperative renovated this school, built a kitchen, and has provided funding for a large scale chicken coop to provide an income through which to pay their teacher's salaries. A delegation from Indianapolis will be visiting this project in December.

"The picture of the International Committee of the Red Cross vehicle was taken in Tanzania. These SUVs are abundant in the developing world as roads are usually in horrible shape or completely non-existent in the areas of the world where NGOs operate. After reading and learning about humanitarian work overseas, to see it in action for the first time was truly moving."

We think these gorgeous pictures make great gifts for the globetrotters on your list, or anyone interested in making a difference with their purchases.

So the good news is that Weather Willy, your favorite Broad Ripple cafe weathercaster, is actually on up on a Wednesday today. The bad news is, this recording was taped Tuesday and has been posted LATE, so you've already been through the brunt Weather Willy mentions in the first part of his report. A good fall drink warms your soul. Think of the spices that give the holiday season its spicy smells and tastes: Cinnamon, ginger, vanilla. These are all spotlights of our latest and greatest concoction, the new vanilla spice latte. Come in and taste its creamy, savory goodness, topped with fluffy foam. Come get one from your favorite Indianapolis coffee shop this weekend!

And why does the Crème de Pomme have SOY instead of COW milk? That's a question that comes up a lot.

Our answer: Because that’s how its creator originally ordered it: Caramel, cider and a touch of soy. We thought the soy was so good in it, we never swapped ingredients. And why would we? Soy milk has much less fat than regular, and many say it helps reduce cholesterol. But we just think its creamy, nutty flavor goes quite well with the sweet apple bite. 

Of course, you can order the drink with regular milk, and our baristas will be happy to oblige your wishes. But just for us, try it the other way first: We have the best Indianapolis coffee, so we must be doing drinks right!

Who is that dashing diminutive man who sits tight-lipped and nose-picked on Willy's shoulder? It's sweet little Sammy, a coffee shop regular. Willy has the weather scoop for you. You can expect at least one day of sunshine in the next few days, but the rest will be muggy and warm--perfect for a Sunshine Smoothie with mango, payapya, pineapple, peach, ginger and carrot. Lots of fresh updates are coming to this favorite Indianapolis coffee shop, including cool new mosaic tables (stay tuned for those).

In case you've never ordered one before, our Broad Ripple cafe also serves up some of the  freshest squeezed juices along the Monon trail besides Indianapolis best coffee. If you love real ripe orange juice, you can enjoy some here. If you want something more exotic, try the vitamin-heavy V-Ate, with tomatoes, cucumber, garlic, carrot, celery, parsley and beets. If you like something a bit more tart, our Pucker Up with green apple, lemon and ginger will have you smiling through its sweet sourness (some customers like to add carrot to even things out a bit). Above our case with the tasty sandwiches and flakey croissants, under our popular salt and pepper kettle chips, lie our bagels. But not just any bagels. Bagel Fair bagels—the best in Indy.

Bagel Fair ‘gels hail from a small shop on 86th street. No, it doesn’t have all the “schmears” and hoopla of Einstein Bros., but then, those guys can’t hold a candle to the texture of these center-less bread circles. They’re crisp on the outside, chewy and soft in the middle, and have just enough bounce in between.

Try the cinnamon raisin flavor slathered with peanut butter, a personal favorite of William. Or the everything bagel with cream cheese.

PS--Did you know that bagels are vegan? Yep. They're made with all dry ingredients. So come and get 'em, animal lovers!

While scouring the universe of Broad Ripple for bits of weather, Weather Willy, owner of Indianapolis's best coffee shop and weatherman extraordinaire, came across a new and wondrous store: Addendum. Not to be confused with its predecessor, Ginko, Addendum has usable art for the home from artists across America. Owner Shane says that when the cast of Wicked was in town, they each picked up a candle from his store.

Speaking of candles, they're getting some new ones in from the oldest candlemakers in the world. that decked out the palace of Versailles. And to prove it, they have a candle that smells like its wooden floors. You won't find that piece of history anywhere else in Indiana.
