Weather Willy says we've been having an Indian something -- not quite summer, but not quite winter either. Of course, it is fall, so it can't be an Indian that either, at least as per the saying.
Anyway, come enjoy the waning sunshine that will be making one of its last appearances this weekend, according to Weather Willy, leader of the free meteorologist world and your favorite Broad Ripple Coffee Shop. And don't forget to check out our new fall menu offerings!
Just like to point out our crisp new background and the "suggest a drink" button on the side. Don't want to order an iced, whole leaf chai latte with two inches of steamed soy? Submit your idea and a creative name! Winners will be immortalized in our special drinks board.
Monon trail cafe goers (that's you) -- Your Weather Willy Wednesday forecast is sunny. Still seeing 60s before this November is over. Come in and celebrate with us. And don't forget to visit our Facebook page.
That's right--it's cold enough to give the ol' slushies the nix after this weekend. But Weather Willy says we'll have a temperate, sunny Saturday, so come in and get a frozen creme de pomme, pumpkin chocolate chip freeze or any other icy goodness from our little Broad Ripple cafe to tide you over until spring.
Sorry for the sideways Willy ... the cameragirl isn't drunk, just stressed.
Check out Weather Willy's predictions for conditions during this weekend's Broad Ripple Music Fest, live from his Monon Trail Cafe. Speaking of the Music Fest, we're hosting some bands on Saturday from 5 p.m. on, at our very own Broad Ripple coffee shop. Stop by and see us, and while you're here, try the new BLENDED creme de pomme--that's apple, caramel and soy milk mixed with ICE. Different and delicious!
That's Weather Willy's shameless plug this brisk Saturday. Listen to his weather predictions for the weekend, and then come warm up at the best Monon Trail coffee shop around. Here are some of our favorites this weekend:
*Creme de pomme (apple cider with caramel and a touch of soy) *Pumpkin chocolate chip freeze (pumpkin syrup, chocolate chips, espresso and milk blended together) *White chocolate mocha (the best in the city--possibly the world; luscious Ghirardelli white chocolate is steamed with milk and espresso for a silky-sweet taste like you've never experienced. It's like drinking a cloud.) *Chai or yerba mate latte (soul warming, not-too-sweet, and good for you)
The current weather report from the Monon Trail: Weather Willy says it's going to be sunny during the day and cool at night for most days this week. Watch the video for more. And don't forget to stop by for some of Indianapolis's award-winning coffee, or our new creme de pomme--caramel cider with a touch of soy. Mmmmm (delicious pics soon).
Your favorite Broad Ripple coffee shop owner has been away, but he didn't forget about you. He delivered a weather report from the mountains--just in case you all wanted to know, or happened to be in Montana like him.
The cooler weather signals fall's imminent return. But we have you covered on snackage for the season--try our oat jacks with chewy seeds, fruit and molasses for a healthy treat, or maybe some banana or pumpkin bread to get you in the mood for the season. All go well with our US sourced, artisan roasted coffee. Visit our Broad Ripple coffee shop soon for some sustinance--you'll need to build some insulation!
Here's your Weather Willy Wednesday prediction from your favorite Broad Ripple cafe! Don't fret about today's showers, as they've already dissipated. And Weather Willy reminds you not to miss out on the last few days of the State Fair, chock-a-block full of MC Hammer and chocolate-covered bacon--two must-try acquired tastes. Run back to your favorite Indianapolis coffee shop (that's us) to make it better afterward.
Hey all you weather-beaten Hoosiers: Willy has the weather scoop for you. You can expect at least one day of sunshine in the next few days, but the rest will be muggy and warm--perfect for a Sunshine Smoothie with mango, payapya, pineapple, peach, ginger and carrot. Lots of fresh updates are coming to this favorite Indianapolis coffee shop, including cool new mosaic tables (stay tuned for those).
And did you know that Nuvo rated Monon the favorite Broad Ripple cafe? Thanks to reader votes, it's true. Thanks to everyone who weighed in!
In case you've never ordered one before, our Broad Ripple cafe also serves up some of the freshest squeezed juices along the Monon trail besides Indianapolis best coffee. If you love real ripe orange juice, you can enjoy some here. If you want something more exotic, try the vitamin-heavy V-Ate, with tomatoes, cucumber, garlic, carrot, celery, parsley and beets. If you like something a bit more tart, our Pucker Up with green apple, lemon and ginger will have you smiling through its sweet sourness (some customers like to add carrot to even things out a bit). No dice yet? Try the House juice with carrot, apple and ginger or the CAP with carrot, apple and pear. Can you imagine what a treat these real fruit and vegetable juices are for your health?
(If you're wondering about that juggernaut Willy is holding, her name is "Ruby" and she'll be juicing your apples today.)
Look at this giant tower of iciness. That's a whole buncha cool, ice-crunchy goodness below that spaceship-like orb that is its plastic cup top. It's coolness all the way around.
The drink shown is our mocha freeze, but this favorite is now available in a new, young, updated version without wrinkles--vanilla malt freeze! That's right, kids (or adults), you get the taste of vanilla and candy-sweet malt, whipped to oblivion so it slides down your throat. You don't even have to swallow!
We're not just the best Broad Ripple cafe or coffee shop, we're the best malt shack in the neighborhood, too!
Weather Willy says it's hotter than Hades outside. Better come to the Monon Coffee Company for Broad Ripple's best iced mochas, fresh fruit smoothies and bluemonade in the city!
Some to try: *Berry Blaster with raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, cherry and blackberry *House smoothie with strawberry and banana *Malted Monkey with chocolate, banana, malt and milk *Peachy Keen, sweet tea with peach *Bluemonade, blueberry rooibos tea and lemonade
Monon Coffee Company is one of the most vegan-friendly eateries in Broad Ripple. Plenty of our treats can be had by those who don’t care to eat animal products of any kind.
Like our awesome vegan carrot cake. Think it’s easy to make a carrot cake vegan? Not when it’s this good. The bakers don’t use real butter or eggs in this recipe at all, from the flakey, carrots-and-spice dotted cake to the fluffy white icing that covers it.
Vegan carrot cake pairs well with any of our vegan drink selections. You can do any of our milk-based drinks--lattes, freezes, mochas--with healthy almond, rice, soy or hemp milk. And our smoothies are always made with frozen fruit and apple juice, so they're literally a vegan's dream.
We're how eating healthy and cruelty free ve-GAN in Broad Ripple!
Above our case with the tasty sandwiches and flakey croissants, under our popular salt and pepper kettle chips, lie our bagels. But not just any bagels. Bagel Fair bagels—the best in Indy.
Bagel Fair ‘gels hail from a small shop on 86th street. No, it doesn’t have all the “schmears” and hoopla of Einstein Bros., but then, those guys can’t hold a candle to the texture of these center-less bread circles. They’re crisp on the outside, chewy and soft in the middle, and have just enough bounce in between.
Try the cinnamon raisin flavor slathered with peanut butter, a personal favorite of William. Or the everything bagel with cream cheese.
PS--Did you know that bagels are vegan? Yep. They're made with all dry ingredients. So come and get 'em, animal lovers!
While scouring the universe of Broad Ripple for bits of weather, Weather Willy, owner of Indianapolis's best coffee shop and weatherman extraordinaire, came across a new and wondrous store: Addendum. Not to be confused with its predecessor, Ginko, Addendum has usable art for the home from artists across America. Owner Shane says that when the cast of Wicked was in town, they each picked up a candle from his store.
Speaking of candles, they're getting some new ones in from the oldest candlemakers in the world. that decked out the palace of Versailles. And to prove it, they have a candle that smells like its wooden floors. You won't find that piece of history anywhere else in Indiana.
Duncan Alney’s “In Person” series of black and white photos captures archetypes of the creative class. From Indy’s resident Cajun cool cat, Yats proprietor and nicest-guy-you-met Joe Vuskovich, to punk-rock sweetie Lindsay Manfredi, Alney’s mostly musical shakers jump off their black and white backings with loads of character.
Alney is president of Firebelly Marketing in Broad Ripple, which offers creative online and offline marketing solutions to Indianapolis clients and beyond. He came to the United States with a few dollars in his pocket, and worked hard to carve out his creative niche. He’s succeeded. And this work in particular reflects the American dream in which he and his subjects partake.
What the heck is Bluemonade, and why would we do that? Because we wanted to take something uberhealthy and delicious and mix it with something ubertasty and refreshing.
Barista Kaiton can be credited with this crazy concotion, but one of our regulars, Sandi, can be credited with its moniker. Bear with us--it has taken a while to nail down the spelling. (Bloominade? Bluemaide ? Bluemanade? ... Bluemonade!)
One thing is for sure--this sweet, cool, tangy drink has summer written all over it. Come and see for yourself.
Weather Willy gives you the forecast for our rainy week (it'll get better!) outside of today's Broad Ripple sponsor, Boogie Burger. Plus, Willy teases this weekend's 80-acre Woodruff Place flea market.
We also have a new healthy, refreshing drink--Blueminade. It's our tasty, tart lemonade mixed with antioxidant-rich blueberry rooibos. Come in out of the rain and try one.
Plus, become a fan on our Facebook page, where we'll update you on all the latest offerings and goings-on. We're currently looking for input on the soap opera we'll start to do weekly, so if you're a regular and have an idea, post on our wall!
